ABSTRACT

Objective:To observe the effect of Shaoyao Gancaotang and its disassembled prescriptions on the expressions of transient receptor potential vanilloid 3 (TRPV3) and transient receptor potential vanilloid 4 (TRPV4) in myocardium and hypothalamus of rats in the ultra-high temperature environment, in order to explore the mechanism of Shaoyao Gancaotang and its disassembled prescriptions against the high temperature. Method:Seventy five male SPF-grade SD rats were randomly divided into 5 groups according to their body weight, namely normal control group, high temperature normal control group, Shaoyao Gancaotang group (2.16 g·kg-1), single Paeoniae Radix Alba(PRA) group (1.08 g·kg-1) and single Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma(GRR) group (1.08 g·kg-1). Except normal control group, the remaining groups were fed in artificial climate boxes for 13 days. The normal control group and the high temperature normal control group were given the same volume of pure water. Western blot and quantitative real-time fluorescence polymerase chain reaction(Real-time PCR) were used to determine expressions of TRPV3, TRPV4 protein and mRNA in myocardium and hypothalamus of each group. Result:Compared with the normothermic control group, the expressions of TRPV3 protein, TRPV4 mRNA, TRPV3 protein and TRPV3 mRNA in the myocardium of the hyperthermic control group were significantly higher than those of the normal control group (PPPConclusion:TRPV3, TRPV4 channels in rat myocardium and hypothalamus were activated in the high temperature environment. The anti-hyperthermic mechanism of Shaoyao Gancaotang and its disassembled prescriptions was related to the regulation of TRPV3, TRPV4 channel protein and mRNA expressions in rat myocardium and hypothalamus.

ABSTRACT

Objective To explove the replantation and repairing methods of specified tissues and or- gans. Methods Seven cases of amputated external ear,2 cases of avulsed penis and testicle,1 amputated tongue and 1 amputated nose had been treated by microsurgery replantation, temporary ectopic implantation, and reconstruction by flap transfer. Results Those success in 5 cases of external ear replantation,2 earflap reconstruction with flap, and 2 replantation of penis and testicle, while failure in 1 case of external ear tempo- rary ectopic implantation,1 replantation of tongue and 1 nose. Conclusion For amputated special tissues and organs, shape and function of amputated tissues and organs can be well reestablished by microsurgery re- plantation.Skilled technique of microvascular anastomosis and satisfactory braking are most important to suc- cess.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVETo investigate the hazards of aluminum dusts to the exposed workers and the clinical features of aluminosis.

METHODRetrospective investigation on 75 aluminosis patients from a certain factory diagnosed in Shanghai Occupational Diseases Hospital from 1972 to 2004 was carried out.

RESULTSThere were 27 cases of aluminosis I (36.0%), 28 cases of aluminosis II (37.3%) and 20 cases of aluminosis III (26.7%) among 75 cases. The shortest exposure duration was 3 years, and the longest 17 years, and 37 cases of aluminosis occurred after exposure less than 10 years. hest radiographic examination mainly showed irregular micro-shadows: t (22/75), s (4/75), t/u (1/75), t/s (2/75), or predominantly irregular mixed microshadows s/p (5/75), s/r (1/75), t/p (9/75), t/q (5/75); some showed round shape micro-shadows: p (6/75), q (1/75), p/q (3/75), q/p (1/75). 27 cases showed large shadows, 20 cases of them were diagnosed as pneumoconiosis III. A lot of irregular micro-shadows gathered and developed to form uneven, loose and border-irregular masses. Most massive fibrosis looked like stripe or plait, located mostly in middle and upper lung field. 8 patients suffered from aluminosis with single side of massive fibrosis and 12 with both sides of massive fibrosis, accounting for 40% and 60% respectively. Mediastinal and bronchopulmonary lymph nodes were enlarged and calcified, accompanied with pleural thickening.

CONCLUSIONSShort exposure to high concentration of black fused alumina may cause serious aluminosis to the exposes. The hazards of aluminum dusts should not be ignored.
